Iryna: So we were in Balakliia back in 2022 and there was this local market for the local people. It wasn’t regulated or anything, so the locals would go fishing and they would sell whatever they had in that local market. I got sick and I asked Henry to go and pick up some fish for dinner from that market because I knew it was all fresh and all good. He went there he took a picture of what they had, sent it to me, and there was this massive fish that looked like probably 50, 60cm long. And next to it there were like smaller ones, probably like 15cm long. I said “well grab two of those little ones, one for you one for me” and so he did that.
He comes home within like 30 minutes, he brings these two massive big old fish and they each were probably like 60cm long. I’m- <laughs> I was so confused! I thought, I said “I thought you bought the little ones?” He’s like “these ARE the little ones!” I’m like how long, how big was that massive one <laughs> what kind of fish was that, was it a beast? And yeah, then I had to clean it, I roasted it, and the second fish, it could barely fit in the fridge. I had to like fold it twice to fit it in the fridge. <laughs>
And I said, “Hon, we will probably not finish this one in a week time, so let’s just get rid of the other one”. Cause I mean, it’ll go bad. So we brought that other fish to the local restaurant, and for the next three or four days, all they- like all their menu consisted of fish <laughs>. Fish with potatoes, fish with macaroni, stuff like that. They were so happy, they couldn’t believe we would just bring them that fish for free. They’re like “are you sure you just want to give it to us? Are you sure?” They almost cried there! <laughs> They were so grateful.
Henry: It was a steal though, because it was one fish for like 250, and two fish for 400, and I’m like “400? for these fish? Yeah.” So, I did it.
